Exercise and Stress Levels

Exercise and Stress Levels

World Health Organisation(WHO) recommends;

  • 150 min of moderate
  • 75min of vigorous exercise per week

or a combination of both!

Physical inactivity may cause;

  1. Increased Obesity Risk
  2. Cancer
  3. Metabolic syndrome
  4. Cardiovascular diseases
  5. Decreased self-esteem
  6. Decreased body satisfaction

Even with moderate exercise;

  • Physical and mental well-being increase;
  • Stress levels, cortisol and heart rate decrease.
  • Perception of stress improves

Stress causes fluctuations in cortisol levels.

Once the cortisol release is induced by stress, the hormonal profile of the body is effected as a whole.

Here are some of the end results of excess cortisol on other hormonal systems:

  • reduces testosterone levels
  • changes in libido
  • changes in menstrual cycle
  • increased oestrogen
  • decreased thyroid function
  • increased inflammation
  • weakened immunity

Practicing regularly and spread well over a week, regulates blood cortisol levels, sugar metabolism and general well being.
